This morning as I was boarding the shitty RVL to get to work, I hear someone behind me saying excuse me. I took my headphones off and turned around to some guy who asked me if the train went to Roselle Park. As soon as his mouth opened, I thought someone through shit at my face, cause his breath smelled AWFUL.. I turned my head the other way and quickly told him yes. How hard is it to brush your teeth in the morning?

On my way home on Thursday night (RVL 6:23 out of Newark) a middle-aged couple sat across from me in a 2-seater. The train pulls out of the station and this gray-haired guy and dyed blonde woman start groping each other like they’re in their own bedroom. It got to the point I thought she was going to unzip his pants and get him off right in the seat! She did everything outside of his slacks that she could possibly do (trying to be politically correct here). I’m guessing they may be married but not to each other. If I had a camera with me I would have taken a picture of where her hand was most of the time.
I had my earbuds on so couldn’t hear if there was any panting or groaning going on.
C’mon people is this stuff really necessary on a rush hour train? Get a room!

OK, I’m a creature of habit. I take the same train every day (7:06 AM RVL in Dunellen) and I position myself on the platform to enter the train at the back of the third-to-last car (favorable exit at Newark to take the Market Street stairs for the switch to a NY-bound train). You can’t count on much when relying on NJ Transit, but, for many months, I was at least able to make this part of my commute as efficient as possible.
For the past several weeks, the 7:06 has been stopping at different parts of the platform. It is impossible to predict which car I’ll get on. Sounds like a petty gripe, but making a connection in Newark can be an adventure, and a few seconds lost can lead to a missed connection. As an example, yesterday I was on the fourth-from-the-rear car and it took me a bit longer to get to the Market Street stairs. I just missed, by less than five seconds, the 7:44 New York train. Then, an announcement states that the 7:50 is running 12 minutes late, so the 8:00 would be the next NY-bound train. This train was PACKED (what else is new?).
Anyway, those few lost seconds translated to 16+ minutes additional commuting time. Thank you, New Jersey Transit.

I have just about had it riding this line. Sometimes I work until 6pm, like I did today and I have to catch the 6:30 rvl out of Raritan to Newark to transfer to the 7:30 nec to New Brunswick. Just one problem..everyday both of my trains arrive at the same fucking time! I am so sick of being just seconds away from missing my train home. They need to change the schedule to say that the connecting train to New Brunswick is the 7:48 NOT the 7:30 cause last I checked I didn’t get a set of wings with my monthly pass. Today I missed my train home and it really pissed me off cause I had to run an errand when I got back, but that’s gonna have to wait until another day. I can’t wait until I finally get another car and all this bs will be over with.

I think your name was Al..sorry if I showed I wasn’t that interested in you. That’s because I wasn’t. First of all, you looked just a little too old for me, and secondly you saw I had my headphones on, but you still took it upon yourself to interrupt me. And just to let you know, I did not get hit by a car walking down the street with my headphones on as you said I would…as for that other remark you made that I didn’t hear too clearly you can shove it up your ass..enjoy your Monday

It was a fairly quiet ride until we reached Plainfield. As soon as we left the station I kept hearing a guy in the back of the car shouting out any word or phrase that came to mind. Then he started having a conversation with someone, but I didn’t hear anyone talking back. For a minute I thought it was just a crazy person talking himself, but I turned around to see a group of about 5 or 6 guys acting like fools. They continued with the yelling and cursing, the conductor even walked by once and just glared at them. As I was getting off lucky me had to walk by them and I hear them yell out “DAMN LOOK AT THAT!” Some people are so pathetic..my next Florida vacation is gonna be much longer

Got on the RVL at Dunellen this morning, usual 7:06 train. My M.O. is to sit on the inside of the first-available two-sy, as close to the doors as possible to facilitate the forthcoming train change in Newark.
Anyway, when I enter the train car, the first two-sy seems to be free, but when I get close to it, I see a large suitcase occupying the floor in the space that would normally be occupied by human legs. I quickly surmised that three young people (sitting opposite this area) were the owners of the suitcase. They were spread out over two facing three-seaters, luggage everywhere. I gave a little shake of my head and proceeded to a less desirable two-seater.
The entire trip to Newark, these three girls spoke in German (at a level many decibels above normal human conversation) and laughed out loud constantly. All hope of getting a few winks before starting work went out the window. When the conductor came to check my ticket, I casually asked if these girls paid extra for seats to store their luggage. He said he wasn’t sure…
I travel internationally about 20% of the time, and I understand that people speak different languages. However, is it just me, or is it extra annoying to be assaulted by constant blather in a language you don’t understand? Today, my new German friends managed to exceed the typical level of rudeness we all encounter on NJT on a daily basis.
I know there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that they’ll see this article, but on the off-chance that they do, here’s my message to them: SHUT THE F**K UP!
Have a great weekend, everyone. Maybe I’ll report on Brussels’ mass-transit system next week.

couldn’t you have waited at least 1 more minute to get off the train before you started screaming into your cell phone? We were right there at Newark Penn Station and you started your damn whining about how someone was at the Soup Store in Orange and she was supposed to be in Newark meeting you..gee maybe it’s because you’re so damn LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS…I wouldn’t wanna meet your dumbass either
