James3AE: I'm going to say something that will be extremely unpopular... I actually support the fare hike. The state is bankrupt, NJ Transit should be bankrupt, the federal government can not help us. I do not want to pay an additional $55 per month, but it is fare that I pay for a service I use and not pass the buck to tax payers that do not choose to use it, or have no need for it. Despite it's multitude of problems NJT and PATH are extremely convenient for me, and still cheaper than driving. I agree that someone needs to in - Ripper will respond to fare increases...

cameo: Facts from where? I am amazed how they came to their calculations in this article. NJ Transit pay up 24 percent in four years; increases more than 3 times inflation rate http://www.mycentraljersey.com/article/20100308/STATE/100308036/NJ-Transit-pay-up-24-percent-in-four-years-increases-more-than-3-times-inflation-rate Bottom line is only New Jersey Transit knows what monies went into what, in terms of costs of operations and salaries. Further, only those who are on shift work know the ins and outs of what that kind of job entails. So if they deserve their pay/ salary increase so be it. Make sure tickets are collected. BUT what about those service cuts for major rush hour trains at this in - Ripper will respond to fare increases...

cameo: Hudson tunnels anyone? Service cuts on the Transit after.... LOL With all of those train services cutbacks, who needs tunnels to get into Manhattan? NJT Manager gets the Management Trophy Prize in the latest service cutbacks. What was that? .... Oh yeah, his hands are tied.... (: (: Director Sarles did pave the way for those tunnels coming up didn't he?.... LOL. Many rush hour trains are impacted. 7:19 a.m. out of High Bridge for my line. What about the 8 billion dollar funding for high Speed Rail from Lahood. I guess Comdedy Central was the right venue in - Ripper will respond to fare increases...

cameo: Fare increases, ah yes... Death and taxes take third place after fare increases on the transit these days in terms of certainty of occurrence. I also have it on good authority that if the ACES are on time and alive and kicking it's because Trumpyboy himself is pouring quite a bit of money in this ACES/Casino related venture. You see he has cut back on his personal grooming costs like manicure, pedicure, "teethcure" body waxes and hair dressing costs. Did you notice that he is missing a lot more of his hair on his head? That bee in - Ripper will respond to fare increases...

cameo: Train whistles - I hear you guys about the train whistles. Sure enough I understand that train whistles are part of the rules of the transit. But there is nothing like getting tossed out of bed at 5:30 every morning by these loud horns. I got bags under my eyes huge enough to store broccoli in them. Now you got the whistles plus the bellls. What gives? I never understood the bells. Do the sounds from the bells carry further out into the distance and that is why modern trains have them? Where are these damm bells located. in - NJ Transit might as well not communicate at all
